The Ruthless Black Bean Burger

For all our plant-based friends and flavor seekers, meet the Black Bean Burger! Packed with hearty black beans, spices, and veggies, this burger is crispy on the outside and tender inside. Topped with fresh greens, creamy avocado, and a zesty chipotle mayo, this burger is a celebration of delicious, meatless goodness!

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/4 cup finely diced bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Brioche or whole wheat burger bun
  • Avocado slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Chipotle mayo

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mash the black beans but leave some texture.
  2. Add breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, egg, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form into patties and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm up.
  4. Cook the patties on a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes each side until crispy.
  5. Toast the buns lightly.
  6. Assemble: Spread chipotle mayo on the bun, add lettuce, the black bean patty, avocado slices, and top with the bun lid.
  7. Enjoy your wholesome, hearty black bean burger!
